De Puniet claimed a shock third-place finish at Donington

Randy de Puniet could miss the Czech MotoGP on 16 August after breaking his left ankle in a motocross accident. The LCR Honda rider, 28, has already had surgery after suffering the injury while out riding with personal trainer Yves Demaria, a former motocross rider. "Unfortunately I had a fall and the impact on the ground caused a fracture of the left ankle," said de Puniet. "I'm very disappointed but training is very important in order to be in good shape in MotoGP." De Puniet says he "will do his best" to be fit for the next race of the championship, at Brno on 16 August.

The Frenchman currently lies eighth in the championship standings on 74 points, five points adrift of seventh-placed Marco Melandri. De Puniet will be particularly keen to race at Brno to build on the momentum from his surprise third-place finish at the British Grand Prix last time out, when he came home behind Andrea Dovizioso and Colin Edwards.
