Jorge Lorenzo will undergo a skin graft on his hand on Monday after missing the Catalunya MotoGP because of injury.
The 21-year-old was knocked unconscious after crashing in practice on Friday, his fourth crash in as many meetings.
"The cranial trauma has improved without further complications but this must be verified with another scan," said Yamaha team doctor Xavier Mir.
"He has more than two centimetres of skin missing from his fourth finger so a skin graft is necessary."
Lorenzo, who lies third in the standings, has made a sensational start to MotoGP with a victory in Portugal and pole position in his first three races.

But he has also crashed at China, France, Italy and Barcelona, and undergone arm surgery, although this was not linked to any of his crashes.
"It's clear that the luck is not with him at the moment," said Yamaha team manager Daniele Romagnoli after his latest crash.
"He was going 130 kmh so it was quite a fast crash.
"The head injury means that he must undergo a period of rest and not take any further risks."
