McLaren boss Ron Dennis says he is optimistic that his team's cars will be the pace-setters in Sunday's British Grand Prix at Silverstone.
Dennis, who believes McLaren can repeat the form they have shown in recent races, has been buoyed by a successful test at Silverstone last month.
"We had a fantastic qualifying lap times in our test, our car seemed to be very competitive here," said Dennis.
"We go there with the understanding that we have the speed to win."
Raikkonen's second-place finish behind Alonso in last Sunday's French Grand Prix was all the more creditable as he had been relegated to 13th on the starting grid.
"We would have liked to have won, but we are looking forward to Silverstone - it should be a great race," said Dennis.

He said he was proud of the car the team had produced this season, but admitted that Alonso's lead in the championship was looking ominously large.
Raikkonen is second in the drivers' championship, 24 points behind Renault's Fernando Alonso, and McLaren are second in the manufacturers' standings.
"I think we have the speed to win (the championship) but unfortunately we are a few points behind," he said.
"There is a long way to go, these things can turn around - you never know."
