King's Lynn Stars set up web-based TV channel

Speedway bike

The King's Lynn Stars are setting up a new web-based television channel from the Norfolk Arena called Star TV.

The first broadcast will reveal the identity of the club's new rider for the 2010 season.

The Stars have to replace young Australian Alex Davies who has been refused a British passport.

Promoter Jonathan Chapman told BBC Radio Norfolk: "Other sports have already ventured into this but we're the first in speedway."

Star TV will also give fans the opportunity to contact riders using instant messaging, and Chapman added: "The great thing about it is that it's not just watching TV as we know it, it's also interacting with it.

"As we're live in the studio, we'll be able to take questions and videos that supporters around the world post to us," he added.

The first broadcast on Star TV is on Monday 1 March at 1900GMT on www.klstars.co.uk
