Britain's Laura Davies believes current world number one Annika Sorenstam is the greatest female golfer of all time.

The Swede has had another incredible season, winning 13 titles worldwide this year, 11 on the LPGA Tour.

Sorenstam has won 42 tour titles

That took her career tally to an astonishing 42 tour titles.

When asked if Sorenstam's achievements have confirmed her place as the best ever golfer on the women's tour, Davies' response is emphatic: "In one word, yes.

"You just can't over-emphasise how good she is now," Davies told BBC Sport Online.

"Consistency is her main strength, but she has the rest of it too - she's a quality ball-striker, she drives the ball well.

"But the consistency level, to be able to do it week, after week, after week is what is extraordinary to me."

Davies herself has had an outstanding career with 64 tour titles to her name to date, including four Majors.

And despite her achievements, the 39-year old is showing no signs of losing her appetite for success.

Davies is currently enjoying an eight week-break from the rigours of the professional circuit, but says she is already thinking ahead to next season.

She said: "I'm enjoying my break at the moment but I will be looking forward to the first tournament in January and getting going again.

"High on my list of priorities is to win the Solheim Cup for Europe.

"Basically I want to win some tournaments, and maybe try and win a Major.

"It's all about winning as far as I'm concerned. I've had lots of success in my career and I don't like it when I'm not winning."
