Wolves to keep investing - Moxey

Wolves were relegated from the Premiership in 2004.

Wolverhampton Wanderers chief executive Jez Moxey insists that the club will keep investing even if they fail to gain promotion to the Premiership.

Wolves top the Championship with seven games to play, and are seven points clear of third place Reading.

Moxey told BBC WM that he was keen to maintain the momentum that has been gathering at Molineux.

"We're doing well, but we know we need to continue investing in the team regardless of where we are," he said.

Moxey has been impressed with the investments already made by owner Steve Morgan, since buying the club from Sir Jack Hayward for £10.

Clearly we are better equipped as a football club having been promoted, got relegated and understand the pain we all felt throughout that season

"We've invested wisely with this team. It's a young team and it's got potential, it's got flair; we're doing well."

The chief executive also believes that Wolves are better prepared to cope with the pressures of the Premiership than they were when they were last promoted in 2003.

Wolves were relegated in their first season in the top flight after finishing bottom of the league.

"Clearly we are better equipped as a football club having been promoted, got relegated and understand the pain we all felt throughout that season."
