West Ham have announced that Zeljko Petrovic, assistant to under-pressure boss Avram Grant, has left the club.
Petrovic, 45, from Montenegro, departs after less than four months with the Hammers, who are bottom of the table with only one Premier League win.
Vice-chairman Karren Brady told BBC Sport last week that Grant was likely to be manager at the end of the season.
The West Ham board have labelled the home match against Wigan on Saturday as a 'save our season game'.
With nine points from 14 league games, West Ham are five points adrift of safety.
They have fared better in the Carling Cup and will face Manchester United at home in a quarter-final clash on 30 November.
Former Chelsea and Portsmouth boss Grant replaced Gianfranco Zola as manager in June after the team narrowly avoided relegation under the Italian.
