Walsall manager Jimmy Mullen said he hopes the club's fans will be patient while he tries to bring in new players.
Mullen told BBC WM: "There's players out there which I'm very keen on and very interested in and actually in talks with at the moment."
"What people tend to forget is that those players have a choice as well.
"They haven't just got Jimmy Mullen and Walsall in mind, they've got other people in mind as well, it's a case of being patient."
Walsall released 11 players at the end of last season, leaving Mullen with only a handful of players with any significant first-team experience.
And he is hoping that when most footballers' contracts end on 30 June they will start deciding on their future.
He added: "Sometimes a little bit of patience is needed.
"You want to get your squad built up to the numbers that you want but sometimes you've got to be a little bit patient and wait that little bit longer to hopefully get the right players."
