Kevin Nicholson has signed a new one-year deal with Blue Square Premier play-off winners Torquay United.
The 28-year-old left-back, whose previous contract ran out last week, made 43 league appearances for the Gulls this season, scoring three times.
The former Sheffield Wednesday trainee joined Torquay from Forest Green and has also had spells at Northampton, Notts County and Scarborough.
"This has been an unbelievable time for me," he told the club's website.
"I had three targets which were the safe arrival of my daughter, to win promotion and to sort out a new contract.
"It has all happened so quickly but I couldn't be happier right now."
