Rotherham United remain "optimistic" of avoiding liquidation, despite needing to raise £1m by the end of the month in order to remain in business.
The League One strugglers have raised around £175,000 so far.
Director David Veal said: "The response from the football community has been very positive, and many clubs and their supporters have helped us out.
"The major funding we need has not been forthcoming as yet, but we are in talks with a number of potential investors."
He added: "This could make the difference between us surviving and going out of business - we have to remain optimistic."
Chairman Peter Ruchniewicz revealed a month ago that the Millers were in danger of having to cease trading and drop out of the Football League unless they could close a funding gap.
He has warned that administration was unlikely to be an option for the club "given its limited resources", as they do not own their Millmoor ground.
The "Save The Millers" campaign has attracted support and donations from several other clubs and footballers, including ex-England goalkeeper David Seaman, who is to auction one of his Arsenal shirts, and Liverpool legend Phil Thompson, who has sent a cheque for £500.
