Reading striker Shane Long has signed a new three-year contract with the Premiership newcomers.
The 19-year-old scored four goals in 15 games last season after joining the Royals from Eircom League side Cork City for a nominal fee in June 2005.
Long, a Republic of Ireland Under-19 international, said: "The last year has been brilliant for me.
"I feel like I have really progressed since coming here last summer and I am delighted to sign this new deal."
Long was originally contracted with Reading until 2007 but his new contract will keep him at the club until the summer of 2009.
He is relishing his chance to play in the top flight and added: "Like the rest of the boys, I can't wait for the new season to start.
"It's going to be a big learning curve for me, and I'm looking forward to the challenge."
Reading's director of football Nicky Hammond said: "Shane made a great impact last season, and there is a massive test in front of him in the Premiership this season but we have great faith in his abilities."
