Dean Glover's faltering Port Vale are yet to win in 2009
Port Vale manager Dean Glover has criticised his side's inconsistency following Saturday's 4-2 defeat by Notts County at Meadow Lane.
The result extends Vale's poor run to just one win in seven games, to leave them lying 17th in League Two.
Glover told BBC Radio Stoke: "Our performances are very indifferent. We get a decent result then two bad ones.
"There's not enough grit, determination or pride in our play at the moment to turn this run around."
Vale have now conceded 15 goals in their last five away games. And Glover admitted that defensive mistakes were again the catalyst for Saturday's defeat.
"It's the same old story," said the former Vale stopper. "We can't defend.
"On a couple of occasions we were attacking, got done on the counter-attack and ended up conceding.
"It's frustrating because we haven't got the quality or determination in our squad to grind out a result."
Vale are back in action on Tuesday night when they entertain fellow League Two strugglers Chester City (27 January, 1945 GMT).
