Plymouth Argyle manager Paul Sturrock says he hopes Rory Fallon will sign a new contract within the next week.
The 26-year-old New Zealander is out of contract at the end of the season but Sturrock is confident the striker will pledge his future to Argyle.
"I'm very hopeful Rory will tie everything up be the end of next week," Sturrock told BBC Radio Devon.
"We have had a chat about things, we've been in negotiations and if everything ties up we should get it done."
Fallon joined Argyle from Swansea City in January 2007 for a then club record fee of £300,000.
