Leicester City chairman Milan Mandaric has told BBC Radio Leicester he expects striker Matty Fryatt to sign a new contract this week.
Fryatt has already bagged 22 goals for the Foxes this term but the 22-year-old's current deal is due to expire at the end of the season.
Mandaric said: "Things are going in the right direction.
"We are talking to his agent and I don't see any major difficulties - we want him to sign and he wants to stay."
He added: "I would be very, very surprised if he didn't sign in the next few days.
