Leicester City have signed veteran striker Barry Hayles from Plymouth Argyle for an undisclosed fee.
The 35-year-old has initially joined on a loan deal to enable him to face QPR on Tuesday. He will then sign an 18-month contract the next day.
"Barry brings experience, hunger and desire to this football club," Holloway told the club website.
"He is an exceptional goalscorer and he has proved that at this level and higher. I'm absolutely delighted."

The much-travelled striker, who was given his first chance in league football by Holloway at Bristol Rovers in 1997. has become the Foxes boss's first signing since taking charge ast the Walkers Stadium in November.
Holloway had previously suggested he would not go back to his old club to try and sign any of their players.
However, Leicester have struggled to score this season, having managed just 24 goals in 25 league games. And Holloway has wasted no time in responding, following the opening of the January transfer window.

Not only has he arranged the sixth transfer of prolific former non-league man Hayles' 10-year pro career, but he gthen followed that up by bringing in big target man Steve Howard from Derby County.
"We are looking for strong characters to stabilise the team and see how far they can go," Foxes chairman Milan Mandaric told BBC Radio Leicester.
"Barry would be one of those people who would help them."
