Ipswich Town striker Sam Parkin faces up to four months on the sidelines after breaking his ankle during Tuesday's 3-0 defeat by Reading.
The 24-year-old had to be replaced by Nick Forster after just 17 minutes and left Portman Road on crutches.
Parkin told the club's website: "I'm obviously sick about it. I knew I had done something as soon as it happened but I wasn't sure what.
"I was caught by their centre-half and then got my studs stuck in the pitch."
