Huddersfield striker Andy Booth says he is excited about his new ambassadorial role at the club.

The 35-year-old will retire at the end of the season and scored in his final home game in the 2-2 drew with Brighton on Saturday.

"I will be the link between the players the local community," Booth told BBC Radio Leeds.

"I'm looking forward to another chapter in my life and working behind the scenes at the club."

Booth has had two spells at Huddersfield, making over 450 appearances in a combined period of more than 12 years.

His strike against Brighton at the Galpharm Stadium took him to total of 149 goals for the Terriers.

He explained: "I was thinking I could maybe last one more season but I had to be truthful to myself and there was no chance I could do it.

"This is the right time for me to finish and is the right decision for certain, it's very sad to stop playing the game, but exciting to be facing new challenges.

"My new role will involve lots of different elements and working closely with the commercial and marketing departments and hopefully the role will develop further the longer I do it."

The former Sheffield Wednesday player is now third in Huddersfield's record goal scorer table and has been involved in two play-off successes during his time at the club.

"My most memorable goals were the two against Bradford City, when we won 4-3.

"We were 2-0 up, then they came back to level it up then we went 4-2 ahead, it was a great game."
