Terriers assistant Terry McDermott (r) worked with Keegan at Newcastle
Huddersfield Town have dismissed rumours linking Kevin Keegan with a coaching role at the club.
But chief executive Nigel Clibbens has left the door open to the former England and Newcastle manager.
Clibbens told the club's website: "It's flattering to be linked with people in the game of the stature of Kevin.
"There is an open invitation to Kevin to come to the club and see for himself the exciting things we are doing, I hope one day he can take up the offer."
There are extensive links with Keegan and the current coaching set-up at Huddersfield.
I know that our coaching staff are in close contact with him and he is taking an active interest in events here

Town manager Lee Clark played under Keegan at Newcastle while the Terriers assistant manager Terry McDermott worked under the former Liverpool and Hamburg striker at St James' Park and was an England team-mate of his in the 1980's.
Clibbens added: "[Keegan's] relationship with Lee and his staff goes back a long way and is very strong.
"I know that our coaching staff are in close contact with him and he is taking an active interest in events here.
"However, to link him with us in a formal coaching role or in any other capacity has no substance."
