Stewart suffers ligament injury

Exeter City striker Marcus Stewart could be out for a month after injuring ankle ligaments against Rotherham on Tuesday night.

Stewart was forced off with 20 minutes to go after a challenge from behind, and manager Paul Tisdale says the prognosis is not good.

"He's gone over on his ankle ligaments which are pretty badly torn," he told BBC Radio Devon.

"It was very disappointing because he is one of the senior players."

And Tisdale says it is too early to tell how long Stewart, who left St James Park on crutches, will be out for.

"We'll only find out in the next few days, as is the case with ligament strains.

"It could be anything from two to four or five weeks depending on how bad it is but we can't say that until we see how it settles over the next 48 hours."
