Crewe manager expects tough start

Gudjon Thordarson
Crewe will play in the Football League's lowest tier for the first time since 1994

Crewe manager Gudjon Thordarson expects Dagenham and Redbridge to provide difficult opposition on the opening day of the new League Two season.

The Alex, who were relegated from League One last term, meet the Daggers at the Alexandra Stadium on 8 August.

"The first game is a tough game, and last year they did well," Thordarson told BBC Radio Stoke.

Crewe end the season with a trip to Rotherham on 1 May, and a home match against Bradford seven days later.

Thordarson added: "The last two games will be very tough games, but they're all tough games.

"We need to make sure we prepare in the right way to make sure we get reasonable success this year. Pre season is just around the corner and we're all ready to kick in."
