Crawley have had a bid rejected for the Torquay winger Danny Stevens.
Manager Steve Evans told BBC Southern Counties Radio: "We were told Stevens is part of their plans so we have had to move on."
The Crawley boss does remain keen to add to his squad before the transfer window shuts.
He said: "We are waiting on permission to speak to two players and we are still talking to Crystal Palace about one lad."
