Currie moved to Championship side Ipswich Town for £250,000 in 2004 following a short spell with Brighton & Hove Albion.
After loan spells at Coventry City and Derby County he joined Luton Town in July 2007.
Currie, who had been linked with a return to Brighton, is set to play his first game on Tuesday when the Spireites host Sheffield Wednesday in their latest pre-season friendly.
