Vaughan vows to help Chester back

Chester City

Chester owner Stephen Vaughan says he will do everything he can to get the club back into the Football League.

City confirmed on Sunday that they have gone into voluntary administration.

But former chairman told BBC Radio Merseyside: "I will do whatever I can to make sure this club bounces back from non-league football.

"If that means we can get a buyer in that's all well and good. If we can't get a buyer in, we'll have to look at packaging the deal up and go again."

City are expected to start next season in the Blue Square Premier on -10 points as they have gone into administration.

Anybody who wants to come in now and make an offer for the club or buy the club - they are in the best possible position they could be in

Vaughan believes they will have no problems being allowed to enter the Blue Square Premier next season despite the club's financial position. And he also insists that the club is in a good selling position.

"We've spoken to the Conference prior to it," said Vaughan. "We've also spoken to the Football League and we feel the 10-point penalty will be imposed as is the ruling in the Football League.

"In the best interests of the club and the city of Chester, we've got control of the football club.

"It's in an ideal position, where the debt is controlled by the administrator. Anybody who wants to come in now and make an offer for the club or buy the club - they are in the best possible position they could be in."
