Cardiff City chairman Datuk Chan Tien Ghee promises better times
Cardiff City chairman Dato Chan Tien Ghee has reassured fans that there are no plans for former chairman Sam Hammam to return to the club in any capacity.
In an open letter to supporters on the club's website, Chan says the only scheduled meetings with Hammam relate to the Langstone Corporation debt.
The Malaysian also reiterated the commitment of the new board to get the club back on a firm financial footing.
"I wanted to... reaffirm our commitment and support to the club," Chan said.
"As you will be aware there has been much conjecture in recent days over various issues."
Despite a club statement on Thursday distancing Cardiff from reports that former owner Hammam could again be involved with the club, Chan enforced the point with his personal message on Friday.
"With regards to the media speculation regarding Sam Hammam, again as stated yesterday the only contact we have had is through the club's solicitors and is in regards to addressing the Langston agreement," Chan said.
"I would stress that the comments are unhelpful, unfounded, inaccurate and self-serving.
"As of yet no meeting has been set up and I have had no direct dialogue with Mr Hammam.
"If there is to be a meeting, I will be accompanied by the club's solicitor and it will be to discuss a final settlement and timing of the whole Langston issue."
Chan also promised to "work through the challenges of the various debts, cash flow issues and other basic business functions" to allow the club to compete "at the highest levels".
Earlier this week Cardiff admitted that staff wages for June had not been paid on time, although chief executive Gethin Jenkins blamed the situation on banking red tape.
A pre-season trip to Malaysia has also been cancelled at short notice, but Chan said that this was because "the timings and logistics didn't make it viable for the season" and that the Bluebirds were likely to head there next year.
