Phillips made just five appearances in his second spell at Weymouth
Striker Lee Phillips says he is happy to have joined Cambridge United on a deal until the end of the season.
The 28-year-old was one of a number of players to leave financially-troubled Weymouth last week and made his debut for the U's against Histon on Monday.
He told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "I'm absolutely delighted to come straight into such a strong team.
"I've got quite a bit of experience, which can only be beneficial for the team and our promotion push."
Cambridge are the third side Phillips has played for this season.
He joined Rushden and Diamonds from Torquay for an undisclosed fee over the summer, but was subsequently transfer listed and made the move to Weymouth in January.
Boss Gary Brabin threw Phillips straight into his starting line-up for the derby with Histon, but the Penzance-born hitman knows there is plenty of competition for places.
"If the manager wants to change it for the next game and I'm on the bench, then I'll come off the bench and do what needs to be done," said Phillips.
"We've got Chris Holroyd and Danny Crow, they gave me their best wishes and I'm sure they'll come in and do a job when they need to."
Phillips scored for Exeter in the 2007 Conference play-off final and he is targeting a return to Wembley with the U's this season.
"There's a lot of experience in this side, people who have played in the play-offs," he said.
"I'm sure if we carry on picking up points we will be fine and firing on all cylinders for the play-offs."
Phillips arrives at the Abbey Stadium as cover for Mark Beesley who is set to undergo hip surgery which will keep him out for the rest of the season.
