Murray is in his second spell with Bristol City

Bristol City winger Scott Murray hopes to force his way back into the first team at Ashton Gate after the end of his loan spell at Cheltenham Town.

Murray's three-month stay at Whaddon Road came to a conclusion with Saturday's 2-1 win over Leyton Orient.

He told BBC Radio Bristol: "Gary Johnson said I'm in his plans and that I have a role to play at Bristol City.

"I'll try and get involved, but if I need to look for loan move in January, Cheltenham would be my choice."

The commitment that he's shown has been absolutely different class, he has been an absolute model professional

Cheltenham boss Martin Allen

Murray made 16 appearances for Cheltenham, scoring three goals.

Town boss Martin Allen told BBC Radio Gloucestershire that the Scottish midfielder's professionalism had inspired his team.

"Thirty-four-years old and the career that he's had, he's never missed a day's training, he's never been late and he's never skipped anything.

"The commitment that he's shown has been absolutely different class, he has been an absolute model professional and full credit to him for the way he's conducted himself.

"The way he's played and he's a shining example to our young players, all our players, everybody at Cheltenham we really appreciate what he's done."
