Carew aims to end career at Villa

Villa striker John Carew
John Carew will be almost 32 when his contract at Villa Park ends in 2011

John Carew says he wants to finish his career at Aston Villa because he feels more at home than at any other club he has played for.

The Norwegian striker, 29, joined Villa from Lyon in January 2007 after spells in Turkey, Italy and Spain.

"I'm very happy here and I love the club," he told the club website.

"Football here suits me very well. It's a very quick game and I think I've found the right country. I would like to finish my career here."

Villa are the seventh club Carew has played for. And he has now scored more league goals for them than he has for any of his former sides.

The 21 he has so far netted since arriving eclipses the 20 he got in a four-year stint at Valencia. But Carew admits that he has not thought too much about statistics.

"I don't set targets," he said. I don't keep a note of the goals I score. I know some strikers do but it's something I've never done.

"All that matters to me is to keep improving as a player."
