Red-hot George McMullan shows why he has picked up the Player of the Month award for September.

Cliftonville hot-shot George McMullan is the Carling Northern Ireland Football Writers' Association Player of the Month for September.

The Reds striker banged in seven goals last month including a hat-trick in the 4-0 demolition of Lisburn Distillery.

"We have a fantastic team ethic at Cliftonville. We win together and lose together," said McMullan.

"It's always fantastic to win awards but I would not be receiving this if it wasn't for the rest of the lads."

McMullan last won the Player of the Month in December 2007.

"I gladly accept this award on behalf of everyone at the club. September was a great month for us and hopefully we can continue to progress."

Current in-form Crusaders striker David Rainey, who won the accolade for August, was second with Cliftonville forward Liam Boyce, third.
