Blackburn manager Graeme Souness blasted his players after they conceded two late goals to draw 2-2 with 10-man Manchester City.

Rovers were crusing at 2-0 after goals by Andy Cole and David Thompson and were handed a further advantage when Danny Tiatto was sent off for City.

But Souness could only look on in frustration as first Nicolas Anelka and then Shaun Goater ensured a share of the spoils for City.

"We're playing good football, leading 2-0 against 10 men and controlling the game and we allow them back into the game," he fumed.

"We gift them a point by not putting the extra yard and extra effort in when it really mattered and also the extra bit of concentration which was needed.

"I am accusing some of my players of not doing it when the going got tough in the last 10 or 15 minutes.

"When you're tired you have to be strong mentally to dig in and keep going.

"I'm not going to name names. It wouldn't take anyone to work out who I am talking about but it is very disappointing.

"I'm really upset and just cheesed off."

City boss Kevin Keegan admitted that the sending-off of Tiatto had helped to change the momentum of the game.

"I have said to the player that it is not acceptable and we will fine him as much as we can. He didn't help us at all and it was a bad challenge.

"But daft as it sounds that incident changed the game. The other players responded in a way that they hadn't until that point.

"We came back from the dead really. We didn't seem to have the belief we normally have that we can go and cause them problems.

"But at 2-0 down and with 10 men we had nothing to lose and I guess the belief came.

"It was very, very disappointing by our standards until the last 15 minutes.

But Shaun came on and did what he does best. Defeat here would have left us down for a few days but having come back well we'll take the pluses from it."
