Aldershot striker Wade Small scored twice in 10 minutes to consign Burton to their second home loss in four days.
After early Burton pressure, Small pounced on a mistake by full-back Scott Malone to score from eight yards.
And, on 26 minutes, Clayton Fortune headed the ball into his path for Small to score his second.
Burton responded just before the break, Shaun Harrad thumping home a 20-yard effort, and Albion keeper Adam Legzdins denied Marvin Morgan a late third.
Aldershot's third away win of the campaign, thanks to Small taking his recent run of scoring five goals in six games, helped them leapfrog over Burton into 12th place in League Two.
Burton boss Paul Peschisolido told BBC Radio Derby: "After the first seven minutes I thought it was going to be our best performance of the season.
"It kind of went pear-shaped from there on in.
"Two goals were sloppy. We conceded out of nowhere really. It wasn't good, it wasn't a good performance."
Aldershot boss Kevin Dillon told BBC Surrey: "We got hammered here last year and I think I made the players fully aware of it. I fancy them to get in the play-offs because they've got a great team.
"I'm pleased that we won because we deserved to be in front at half-time. We held firm second half and we had the better chances.
"I got a performance from Manny Panther that I wanted. He fell away but he's the type of player we need. Him and Luke Guttridge were terrific."
