Stevenage clinched their debut league victory at the expense of Stockport, who are still left without a win.
Charlie Griffin paved the way to a deserved win with a brace, his first a header from a Ronnie Henry cross and the second a close-range effort.
In between, Michael Bostwick hit a blistering left-foot shot that gave Owain Fon Williams no chance.
A late header from George Donnelly proved nothing more than a consolation for the visitors.
Stevenage manager Graham Westley told BBC Three Counties Radio: "The lads were strong and organised, really purposeful and they were two great goals in the first half to get us going, then it was nice to go three-nil up.
"We are obviously disappointed to give the clean sheet away, we lost our focus a little bit towards the end of the game.
I still want more from him (Charlie Griffin). The reason he is playing at this level is because outside of the box he doesn't do enough."
Stockport manager Paul Simpson told BBC Radio Manchester: "I think we've had long periods in the game where we've actually played well today and I think the big positive is the fitness levels they've shown second half.
"We know it's going to be a tough long season and we need to remain strong and determined, and the positive today is that we kept going to the end.
"There's a weakness in the mind that when we go a goal down they don't cope with it and don't continue to do the right things."
