Adrian Patulea's first-half strike gave Lincoln their first away win in two months and piled the pressure on Notts County manager Ian McParland.
The Romanian - who scored twice in the win against Accrington - turned in Aaron Brown's cross home from 12 yards after 32 minutes.
Notts County have won only twice at Meadow Lane hit season and they created few clear-cut chances.
Lee Frecklington also spurned two chances to add to Lincoln's lead.
