Steve Morison grabbed two late goals as Millwall trounced neighbours and promotion rivals Charlton to close the gap between the teams to one point.
Darren Ward headed the Lions in front from Chris Hackett's corner.
Hackett also set up the second when Christian Dailly got on the end of his cross to put through his own net after the break.
Neil Harris teed up Morison who drilled in a low shot for the third and Morison pounced on a rebound to make it 4-0.
Millwall boss Kenny Jackett told BBC London 94.9:
"We got our noses in front and in a tight first half, it was a very good header by Darren Ward from a corner.
"We stepped it up a gear in the second half and I'm pleased to say we got some great goals."
Charlton manager Phil Parkinson told BBC London 94.9:
"It was an even game, and we did a lot of good things in the first half."
"You can't go into a big game like a local derby with Millwall, make so many mistakes and think you're going to get away with it.
"Too many individual mistakes have cost us today. You're going to be punished, and we were punished today."
