Cyprus international Jason Demtriou struck in the third minute to give Orient victory over struggling Swindon.
Demetriou collected Wayne Gray's pass and fired an unstoppable right-footed shot from 20 yards into the top corner.
Swindon had several chances in a quiet match but found Orient keeper Jamie Jones in fine form, tipping an Owain Tudor-Jones free-kick over the bar.
He also denied Billy Paynter, who later headed against the bar, while Simon Cox saw a shot cannon back off the post.
Swindon: Phil Smith, Amankwaah (Jean-Francois 87), Ifil, Greer, Vincent (McGovern 87), Robson-Kanu, Timlin, Tudur Jones, McNamee (Macklin 64), Paynter, Cox.
