Dele Adebola scored one and made another against his former club as Bristol City beat Coventry.
He put the Robins ahead after 17 minutes when he clashed with Keiren Westwood, then poked home as the Coventry keeper lay motionless.
Westwood had to be replaced by Andy Marshall and he was beaten when Adedola set up Michael McIndoe for a clinical finish after 54 minutes.
Steve Brooker scored the third on the turn in injury time.
Coventry manager Chris Coleman: "It was disappointing, traumatic, frustrating. And it was all caused by the referee's first-half performance, which affected the result.
"We should have had a free-kick for their first goal. Then, I thought it was a penalty on Clinton Morrison.
"Dowd has had an absolute nightmare and he will get away with it."
Bristol City boss Gary Johnson: "Maybe the home crowd won't agree with me, but if you analyse the major incidents I think he has got most of them right.
"I have felt for the last couple of years that the referee standard is getting better."
