Struggling Colchester remain rooted to the bottom of the Championship after Scott Vernon's brace helped Blackpool to a comfortable win at Layer Road.
Vernon fired home his first goal on 26 minutes after being fed from the right wing by Wes Hoolahan.
Colchester were lucky not to go further behind when Andy Morrell's powerful effort struck the woodwork.
But Morrell responded with some good work down the right to set up Vernon, who finished well.
Colchester manager Geraint Williams:
"That's as bad as we've been this season and for a long, long time.
"The 2-0 result did not tell the story of how badly we have played today.
"We've been working hard in our defending but there are no excuses.
"We need battlers and fighters and we have to keep working hard."
Blackpool manager Simon Grayson:
"It was a good all-round performance.
"I thought in the first half we played really well and we created a lot of good chances.
"It could have been three or four at half-time but we knew that they would come out and fight in the second half and that's what they did.
"But it was a professional performance and I'm pleased that Scott has taken his opportunity because he waited a long time for it."
