AFC Telford United boss Rob Smith hopes to beat off competition to sign Vauxhall Motors midfielder Tom Field, reports BBC Radio Shropshire.
The 23-year-old, who played for Wirral-based Vauxhall Motors last season, is a former Everton trainee.
Telford start pre-season training on Saturday and Smith hopes to wrap up the deal then.
"He's a very talented midfielder," said Smith. "If we don't sign him a host of clubs in the league above will."
Field has also played for The New Saints, as well as non-league sides Stalybridge Celtic, Southport, Altrincham and Droylsden.
Earlier this week, Telford completed the double signing of striker Matt Nolan from Corby Town and lined up defender Rhys Meynell, both from Stalybridge.
The Bucks missed out on promotion from Blue Square North last season losing 1-0 against Gateshead in the play-off final.
