Richard Brodie netted twice as York comfortably saw off troubled Weymouth.
The Terras could have suffered a far heavier defeat without an excellent performance from keeper Simon Evans.
He produced a great stop to keep out Daniel McBreen's effort, but could do nothing to keep out Brodie's point-blank header shortly after.
Evans kept Brodie at bay on another three occasions in an almost personal battle, before the forward found a way through with a header late on.
