Blue Square North side Gateshead are considering an improved offer for striker Lee Novak from League One promotion hopefuls Scunthorpe United.
Novak, 20, has attracted a bid of £90,000 from the Iron, but the Tynesiders are believed to be holding out for a six-figure sum.
"Lee has aroused interest from a number of clubs due to his goal-scoring exploits," said manager Ian Bogie.
"He is destined for a career in the Football League."
Under the terms of the latest offer made by Scunthorpe, only a third of the fee would be paid up front.
But there would then be two further instalments paid after the striker had played an agreed number of games.
