The Professional Footballers' Association has offered to help Paul Gascoigne and the Football Association also seems ready to come to his aid.
Gascoigne, 38, was sacked as Kettering manager after just 39 days for alleged drinking problems and later arrested for an alleged assault in Liverpool.
The FA is understood to be considering helping ex-England star Gascoigne earn his coaching badges.
And PFA chief Gordon Taylor said: "If he has problems he can come to us."
He added: "But it is down to the person themselves. You can only really provide help when it is asked for.
"I have a high regard for Paul. He is a loveable character.
"He has been under a very big spotlight throughout his career and of course he has had well documented problems off the field.
"We have provided a support system in the past for him to come to when he has needed it."
