Australian all-rounder Andrew Symonds hit seven sixes as Surrey beat Kent by 15 runs on the Duckworth Lewis method. The visitors began well by reducing Surrey to 35-4, with Darren Stevens taking the first three wickets. But Symonds (62) and Stuart Walters (42) added 95 for the fifth wicket to guide Surrey to 150-7. Kent quickly lost Rob Key and Martin van Jaarsveld to run outs, and were well behind the required rate on 81-5 when heavy rain ended play. Symonds had reached 62 off just 32 balls when he was yorked by Azhar Mahmood, but on a wicket that took spin, he had already ensured Kent would be facing a difficult task. It became even more formidable when Chris Schofield ran out both Key and van Jaarsveld. Sam Linley then bowled Sam Northeast, Symonds got Geraint Jones caught and bowled and Andre Nel had Alex Blake caught behind. Frustratingly for Kent, however, the in-form Stevens was going well when the weather closed in, having reached 33 not out from just 20 balls. The early finish ensured Surrey, who beat Middlesex on Thursday, had completed their first set of back-to-back T20 wins since July 2007.
