CLYDESDALE BANK 40, Hove: Sussex 245-7 beat Lancashire 206-9 (Sussex 2 pts)
Match scorecard
Sussex's bid for a hat-trick of 40-over titles remains on course after they beat Lancashire by 39 runs at Hove. Sussex made 245-7, fuelled by keeper Andrew Hodd's one-day best 91, including five successive boundaries off Lancashire skipper Glenn Chapple. Lancashire then made a positive start, piling 86 on the board inside 13 overs. But Sussex's spinners Monty Panesar and Ollie Rayner took control as the visitors lost three wickets in four overs, to fall short on 206-9. Sussex have now won their first three games in Clydesdale Bank 40 Group A to sit joint top with Somerset, who also boast a 100% record ahead of Saturday's head-on clash at Taunton.
