Rain ruins Headingley Pro40 game

PRO40 Division Two, Headingley: Yorkshire v Warwickshire
No result - rain - 1 pt each

Yorkshire's Pro40 encounter against Warwickshire was abandoned due to rain after only six overs at Headingley.

Both teams were awarded one point each, a setback for Yorkshire's promotion bid as it drops them to fourth on run-rate.

Play began at 1745 BST in a match cut to 33 overs by a wet outfield, the Bears reaching 28-1 before the rain.

Neil Carter hit fours on both sides of the wicket off Deon Kruis and hit a third four in his 12, Jonathan Trott the man out, caught behind for 11.

Warwickshire gave a debut to former Surrey all-rounder Rikki Clarke, who was released by muttual consent from his contract at Derbyshire.

Pace bowler Calum Macleod was also making his first appearance in the competition for the county but neither were called into action as rain set in and umpires Allan Jones and Neil Bainton had little option than to call the game off.
