Champions League, Hyderabad: New South Wales 112-4 (11.5 overs) beat Somerset 111-7 (20 overs) by six wickets

Somerset's Champions League adventure ended as New South Wales cruised into the semi-finals with a six-wicket win.

The English county lost regular wickets - including Justin Langer in his last game - as only Zander de Bruyn (23) and Wes Durston (20 not out) passed 15.

The Australians reached their target of 112 with eight overs to spare as opener David Warner smashed 40 from 16 balls.

They will be joined in the last four by unbeaten Trinidad & Tobago, who beat Eagles by 24 runs to eliminate them.

The win over Somerset guaranteed New South Wales a semi-final spot courtesy of their vastly superior run rate, while only a huge win for the Eagles would have dragged the South Africans' run rate ahead of Trinidad's to qualify at their expense.

Somerset won just one of their four games out in India - while Sunday's match was also a last hurrah for captain Langer, who confirmed that it was his final competitive game before he retires.

But his last county innings saw him score just five from 11 balls before he and fellow opener Craig Kieswetter both fell to seamer Stuart Clark - who took an impressive 3-15 from his four overs - within the space of three deliveries.

Loose shots and poor running between the wickets accounted for Somerset's middle order, while Omari Banks played on to Brett Lee - who matched Clark's economy, also conceding 15 runs in four overs.

It was left to De Bruyn and Durston to drag the score past 100 - but once Twenty20 specialist Warner and Australian Test opener Phillip Hughes tore into Somerset's new-ball attack, the game was never in doubt.

We have been outplayed for a lot of the tournament

De Bruyn picked up a couple of wickets, but the Australians never needed to hit top gear as captain Simon Katich saw them past their target.

"We have been outplayed for a lot of the tournament," admitted Langer.

"It's really disappointing for our fans back home and for a team that has had a very good couple of seasons in England.

"But it has been an eye-opener for some our guys and a very good learning experience playing against world-class opposition."

On his retirement, the former Australia opener added: "It's a little sad, but having said that I've played for a long time now and in my heart of hearts I know it's time.

Adrian Barath
Trinidad's Barath has been tipped as a West Indies star of the future

"It's nice to finish off in India, playing in the toughest conditions I've ever played in."

Trinidad & Tobago won the toss and batted first against the Eagles and never looked likely to lose their unbeaten record.

They had brought in teenage opener Adrian Barath for his first competitive Twenty20 game, but he showed no sign of nerves as he hit four sixes and four fours, top scoring with 63 before he was bowled in the 17th over of the innings.

He was well supported by William Perkins (35) and Lendl Simmons (40), while the West Indian batsmen hit a total of 13 sixes between them as they racked up a massive total of 213-4 from their 20 overs.

The Eagles went down fighting, with opener Rilee Rossouw hitting 44 from 19 balls, but despite good knocks by ex-Leicestershire pair Dillon de Preez (35) and captain Boeta Dippenaar (33), which helped them reach 189-5 - one of the highest scores of the tournament - the South Africans fell short.

Trinidad and New South Wales will be joined in the semi-finals by Victoria and Cape Cobras - while Monday's final group game, between the Cobras and Dehli Daredevils, will merely determine who plays who in the last four.

Semi-finals:

21 October: Winner League B (Victoria or Cape Cobras) v New South Wales, Delhi

22 October: Trinidad & Tobago v Runner-up League B (Victoria or Cape Cobras), Hyderabad
