A century from Neil McCallum helped Scotland ease to a 45-run victory over Uganda in their World Cup qualifying match in Johannesburg.

Chasing a target of 210, the Africans were bowled out for 164 in 43.1 overs with only Junior Kwebiha offering any resistance to the Scots.

Uganda's chase began terribly when John Blain had Arthur Kyobe caught behind by wicketkeeper Colin Smith.

McCallum's 101 handed him his third century of the tournament.

Joel Olweny was next to go for the Africans in the fourth over when a slower ball from Dewald Nel was played straight into the hands of Navdeep Poonia at cover.

Roger Mukasa looked solid at the other end helping his side move past 50 in the seventh over, before losing another partner, Nandi Kishore bowled by Blain.

But Mukasa perished in the next over when he was bowled by Nel for an aggressive 37 in 32 balls as the Africans slumped to 56 for four.

Jan Stander was then introduced in the 16th over and struck with his final delivery by trapping Akbar Baig leg before wicket for four.

Two wickets in two balls from Craig Wright left Uganda in even deeper trouble: Kenneth Kamyuka was caught by Poonia at cover and Ronald Ssemanda edged behind to Smith.

Frank Nsubuga and captain Kwebiha put on 35, before the former was bowled by Majid Haq for 16.

The skipper looked determined at the other end, passing 50 in 82 balls, but he lost another partner in Davis Arinaitwe, caught by Wright in the covers off Haq.

Last man out Kwebiha was then caught by Moneeb Iqbal off Stander on the square-leg boundary leaving Asadu Seiga not out on eight.

Earlier, after losing his fourth successive toss and being asked to bat, Scotland captain Ryan Watson, who scored a total of 17 runs in three previous outings in the tournament, continued his wretched form when he was caught by Ssemanda at mid-wicket off Seiga for 11.

Smith was next to go, stumped by Mukasa, the bowler being Nsubuga, which was followed by the wicket of Poonia - run out for one by Kwebiha while trying to scamper a second run.

Gavin Hamilton and McCallum then reached their half-centuries - McCallum in 68 balls and Hamilton in 114 deliveries - before the veteran opener was out for 56, caught at long-on by Olweny off Kamyuka.

The Uganda paceman then bowled Stander, playing on for three to leave Scotland at 183-5 with five overs remaining.

At the start of the 49th over, they lost three wickets in three balls - Ssemanda first had Wright caught at mid-wicket by Kwebiha and then sent Blain on his way for a first ball duck.

Haq (nought) was run out off the next delivery by Kwebiha, before McCallum reached his century in 107 balls in the final over to remain not out with Iqbal.
