New opponent for Magee
Brian Magee will defend his IBO title in Huddersfield
Brian Magee has a change of opponent for his IBO super middleweight title defence on 22 February. The Northern Ireland fighter will now box Miguel Jimenez in Huddersfield after original opponent Julio Cesar Vasquez pulled out. Champion Magee is eager to impress after his last defence against Jose Spearman proved to be a rather dull encounter. In August 2002 Puerto Rican Jimenez challenged Joe Calzaghe for the WBO crown in Cardiff. Although it was a one-sided bout, Jimenez, a full-time doorman at the MGM Grand Casino in Las Vegas, took Calzaghe the distance. Jimenez has had 20 wins and just two defeats in his professional career.
