Hansen's Commonwealth dream over
Ashia Hansen
Ashia Hansen suffered the serious knee injury in 2004
Ashia Hansen will not defend her Commonwealth triple jump title after further complications on her comeback from severe knee injury.

Hansen has pulled out of the English team for the Games in Melbourne next March after requiring further surgery to remove scar tissue from her knee.

Hansen tore her patella tendon at the European Cup in Poland in June 2004.

Hansen said: "I would be rushing things if I competed at the Commonwealths and may not do myself justice."

She now faces a race against time to be fit for the European Championships in Gothenburg next August.

Hansen's coach Aston Moore said: "She is still determined to come back - she says she has unfinished business."
