Jersey's Matt Banahan has been left out of the England squad for the sevens tournaments in Hong Kong and Adelaide.
Banahan, who is one of seven contracted England sevens players, is needed by his club Bath to play in the European Challenge Cup quarter finals.
But England coach Ben Ryan says Banahan is one of the squad's success stories.
"The emergence of Matt Banahan from this season’s squad shows we’re another aid for improvement within the elite game," he said.
