Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has declared himself very satisfied with the form of new signing Christophe Berra since his £2.3m move from Hearts.

Berra, 24, has been at the centre of a Wolves defence that has now kept three successive clean sheets, and McCarthy feels he is getting better and better.

"He will," said McCarthy. "He said it himself, judge him after five, six or ten games.

"He's been a really good addition, he's been terrific," McCarthy told BBC WM.

"And when he's had a pre-season with us and he knows a bit more about us he'll be even better."

The Scottish international arrived at Molineux on January window deadline day on 2 February after a long courtship which started last summer.

Berra made his debut in the 2-1 defeat at Coventry in the midst of Wolves' post-Christmas wobble. And he was then again on the losing side the following week at Burnley.

But, for the last five games, he has been paired with veteran defender Jody Craddock at the back, forcing summer signing Richard Stearman onto the substitute's bench.

And the three clean sheets they have now helped to keep in a row have seen Wolves claim seven priceless points in their quest for automatic promotion to the Premier League.
