Fallon demands Histon improvement

Steve Fallon
Histon are currently 11 points behind Burton, but with two matches in hand.

Histon boss Steve Fallon wants his side to up their game at Burton on Saturday as they look to keep themselves in the Blue Square Premier title race.

The Stutes have not won away from home since a 3-0 win over Lewes in February.

Fallon told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "We need more quality going forward than in the past few away games.

"We need to score goals and we've got the forwards to do that, but we're currently questioning our ability away from home."

The Stutes have scored just once in their past four away matches, but that was in a much improved performance at Oxford last Saturday.

Histon took a 1-0 lead through Jack Midson, but eventually fell to a 2-1 defeat after Danny Wright was handed a red card which was later rescinded.

Ahead of the trip to the Pirelli tomorrow, Fallon admits his side are torn between chasing down Burton at the top the table and keeping an eye on the battle for the play-offs.

"We'll still feel there's an outside chance of winning the league, but all we're focused on is winning games and ensuring we're in the play-offs," he said.

"That's is a very difficult task in itself, there are form sides in the mix and we've just got to hang in there."

Club captain Neil Andrews should be fit for Saturday, but Josh Simpson is a doubt with an ankle knock.

"We've got to make sure Josh is 100% because it's not worth risking him and then losing him for the season," Fallon said.

"We'll assess him ahead of the match and it may well be that he sits this one out."
